Beautiful Christmas cactus flowers do not have to be limited to one season. You can enjoy them throughout the year with a few small precautions.

This succulent gets its familiar name from blooming in winter. Its display can be continued beyond that period by paying attention to three simple parts of its care.

Here is what to do:

Keep the cooler conditions, modest watering, and removal of tired growth together in the routine.

  • Temperature: A Christmas cactus is a winter plant, so overly hot surroundings are unwelcome. Between 13 and 15°C is ideal.
  • Water: It requires little water, in common with other succulents. A monthly watering is recommended, together with spraying water on its foliage.
  • Tidying: Take off weak, brown, or particularly wilted sections to make the flowers last longer. These removed pieces can also go into soil, where burying them allows new roots to form.
