Reviving an old and yellowed orchid may seem like a challenge, but with the right antioxidant ingredient, you can witness its transformation in no time. Orchids, being tropical plants adapted to humid heat, require careful attention to water levels to avoid leaf and root rot. Like any home-grown plant, orchids have a natural life cycle, and yellowing leaves are a common occurrence as the lower leaves are no longer nourished by aging roots.
Orchid with yellowing leaves: direct exposure should be avoided
It’s crucial not to hastily remove or cut yellowed leaves, as this can increase the risk of leaf diseases. If leaves have completely dried out, removing them from the stem won’t cause harm.
Old and yellowed orchid: here’s where to place it
Orchids prefer indirect sunlight, so placing them in shaded areas, such as under the thick foliage of trees, is advisable. Direct sunlight and excessive heat exposure can damage the leaves.

During the summer, position the orchid near a north window, and during the winter, place it near a south window. Adding a curtain to the window helps prevent direct sun exposure. Orchids thrive at temperatures between fifteen and 25 degrees Celsius. Extreme temperatures, either too high or too cold, can induce oxidative stress and accelerate plant death.
